The movie is sequel to Thalaiva’s blockbuster sci-fi movie Robot also directed by Shankar.
Rajnikanth like in the prequel will be essaying the role of the good-hearted scientist Vaseekaran and evil brained robot Chitti.
Akshay Kumar who plays the antagonist in this mammoth project, announced about the teaser release on twitter with a new poster, very similar to the character Richard he’s playing in the movie. In the poster, a massive bird can be seen clawing apart a skyscraper.
To be produced by Dharma productions, head honcho Karan Johar tweeted a new poster again with a bloodshot-eyed hawk captioned, “I am exceptionally proud and honoured to present the MEGA and MAMMOTH cinema experience – @shankarshanmugh’s EXCEPTIONAL vision is soon coming your way. Watch this space for more! #2Point0 @apoorvamehta18 @rajinikanth @akshaykumar @LycaProductions @DharmaMovies @arrahman.”
The movie was slated to release early this year, however, the makers have delayed it owing to finishing intricate and thorough VFX work with diligence.
Music director of the film A R Rahman recently revealed in an interview, “There are a lot of expectations riding on the film. What’s good about Shankar is this project, he is the right person. Anyone else would have broken by now. He is like an iron man held on to it saying “I won’t compromise. I want this quality. It’s in 3D, I just watched one song. No CG on it…mindblowing. Only this guy can do this. And there is a whole climax scene, which is incredible.”
2.0 is now scheduled to release on November 29.
